When the VTL server is executing backup and deduplication tasks at the same time, if you power off the SIR server, VTL server, and storage unit in sequence and then power them on in opposite sequence, a message indicating an exception on the SIR server is displayed, stating chnttcp_create:RPC:Success. If you press Enter, another message is displayed stating Enter "yes" to apply the fix, enter "no"to start up with bad binding,You will be asked to fix it on the next startup if the binding is not correct. Do you want to fix the binding?

Handling Process

1.  Check whether the SIR server uses the same fiber path before and after power-on.
  • If yes, keep the application environment unchanged and seek technical support.
  • If no, go to 2.
2.  Bind ports of the SIR server.

     a. When the message chnttcp_create:RPC:Success is respectively displayed, press Enter.
     b. When Do you want to fix the binding? is displayed, type yes and press Enter.

3.  Check whether the SIR server is started.
  • If yes, the fault is rectified.
  • If no, keep the application environment unchanged and seek technical support.

Root Cause

Possible Causes:

The possible cause of this failure is that the SIR server loses power during the fiber switchover.

After the SIR server powers on, it detects a different fiber path from the pre-power-on fiber path. The software self-protection mechanism requires you to confirm whether to Fix binding.
