FAQ-Why the password authenticated telnet users fail to save the configuration in USG6650

Publication Date:  2019-07-10 Views:  335 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

when telnet users login the firewall with  password only ,it  doesn't have the  rights to save the current configurations. But users login from console can ,the Device is Secospace USG6650 with version V100R001C30 installed ,the error shows below :

By checking the current configuration ,we can see the telnet users are with level 15 privilege :

user-interface con 0

   authentication-mode aaa

user-interface vty 0

 authentication-mode password cipher %@%@Ljz*V`O25/tjO)

 user privilege level 15

user-interface vty 1

 authentication-mode password cipher %@%@*@'3L~ggP

so the configuration shouldn't have any problem ,also the telnet user information  shown with command is with level 15 Privilege.

After by adding the command :non-system-admin save enable ,and the issue was resolved, because with and after  V100R001C30 version ,for cyber security consideration ,by default ,non-system administrator don’t have the rights to save the configuration ,However the rights can be enabled with above command, for the former version ,there is no such limitations.
