FCOE between CX310 and Cisco Nexus

Publication Date:  2015-12-30 Views:  1169 Downloads:  122
Issue Description

Connecting an E9000, CH121 v3 as blade server for example, to a storage using Mezzanine card MZ512 or MZ510 as CNA and CX310 or CX311 as switches towards cisco Nexus 5548 using FCoE connection.

CX310 is connected to the cisco Nexus using 10GB fiber as TRUNK
Cisco Nexus is connected to Storage device using FC connection.

Storage is not reachable by the blades, just Network works fine.

In the attached configuration file you can find a sample configuration of booth devices:

VLAN 2002 is used as FCOE VLAN (VSAN nexus side)

Interface 2/17/1 is used as TRUNK to carry DATA and FCoE traffic on CX311 toward interface Eth1/7 on to the other side.

EVEN IF UNTAGGED VLAN1 is not used on duty, Make sure that VLAN 1 is enabled on the trunk! on both Cisco nexus and CX310!

FIP protocol use untagged VLAN to carry FIP packet like FLOGI or FCF discovery among the switches.

Attached you can find Cisco Nexus and Huawei CX311 configuration for reference.
