SIM card cannot register into AR161

Issue Description

The SIM card cannot register to the AR160 device

Customer have an active sim card in the cellular interface but it does not even come up  or detect the sim .

Handling Process

I request some basic information regarding this test:

1. There should be 2 slots available on AR161, insert the SIM card in the second one also. Plug it firmly, there should be a click.
2. Test SIM card with a mobile phone, confirming SIM not damaged or check the credit balance
3. Perform cross test for AR router, if there is a second AR G3 device with SIM card slot, run the test here.

4. The SIM card installation into built-in SIM interface it’s not hot swappable. Because of this, router is needed to be shutdown. Install the SIM card on cold, make sure it’s properly inserted into the slot ( see number 10 below).

 

 

 

Root Cause

After customer reboot the system the card was succesfully registered.

Solution

insert the sim card on cold.

Suggestions

Install the antennas before starting to use 3G or 4G connection otherwise the signal will be very bad.
