There is no response for peripheral input when install ESX.

Publication Date:  2016-04-19 Views:  237 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Install VMware ESXi 5.5 through the iBMC Remote Console. When the installer comes to the first confirmation box, there is no response to make keyboard inputs.
Try the button for keyboard inputs in the toolbar but it did not work as well.

Handling Process

Reboot the sever, and input "delete" to enter into BIOS. Select "Advanced"→"USB Configuration", and disable the "USB 3.0". At last, press "F10" to save the configuration and exit.

Root Cause

There is no USB3.0 driver in ESXi5.5, but USB3.0 is enabled in BIOS, which leads to no response to input from peripheral input, such as keyboard and mouse.

The issue also happens during the installation of Windows2008R2, Suse11sp2 (or earlier version). The solution is to disable the USB3.0 in the BIOS.

This case is also applied for the other type of Tecal V3 server.
