Fail to start the SNMP server of OceanStor 9000

Publication Date:  2016-05-29 Views:  206 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Login to CLI of OceanStor 9000, and then run the command “change snmp status start”. After about 3 minutes, the status of SNMP are still “Stopped” .

Handling Process

1. Run the command “ps” to check if some process whose name contains “snmpagent” is running in the current node.

From the above output, there is PID 25928 process, whose name is “tailf snmpagent.log”. This leads to fail to start SNMP server.

2.Kill the process and then start the SNMP server successfully.

Root Cause is the script that is used to start the SNMP server. This script will check if there is a process whose name contains “snmpagent” before starting the server. If there is one, the script will judge that the SNMP is “STARTED” and doesn’t start the SNMP server again. But actually its server is “STOPPED”.

Kill the process whose name contains the “snmpagent” and then start the SNMP server successfully.

The following versions have the issue: V100R001C01SPC290, V100R001C30SPC100, V100R001C30SPC110.
