Publication Date:  2016-08-30 Views:  125 Downloads:  19
Issue Description

Customer use 6800V3 and NBU to backup data.

Customer report to Huawei that the performance for backup is very low.

Ocean Stor 6800 V3

Dual controller + 5 enclosure

50 SAS + 9 SSD

OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5

Kernel version: 2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64

CPU: 2 * Xeon E5-2620

1,Mirror test shows single stream band width is similar with customer test result.

No file system:

Read: dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/null bs=1M iflag=direct 222 MB/s
: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=1M oflag=direct 305 MB/s

File system:

Read: dd if=/mnt/dd/null of=/dev/null bs=1M iflag=direct 245 MB/s
: dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/dd/null bs=1M oflag=direct 303 MB/s

The single stream IO can only get limited band width because the single stream IO cannot provide enough pressure for storage. It’s normal for customer’s test result.

2, As V3 series storage is designed for multi concurrency, Huawei recommend that customer configure the NBU as multi stream under NBU vendor’s guide. (Please refer to attachment)
