RH5885HV3 failed to load BIOS after upgrade.

Issue Description

Customer confirm that after upgrade the BIOS version from 3.22 to 6.32, the server didn't boot the new version 6.32.

Handling Process

First we have to check the available server model and configuration. First get the equipment serial number and check the hardware type device.

Another way to find the processor type is to get the server logs and in tmp/maintenance/hardwareinfo/bmchardwareinfo.txt file you can find the processor type.

From our database, the server is an RH5885HV3 with E7 V2 processor.

We can find that there are two different type of BIOS versions for different kind of processors:

Root Cause

The issue was generated by the wrong BIOS image load. Customer want to load a E7V3 processor BIOS on a E7V2 processor.


Upgrade the right BIOS image version, accordingly to the hardware type : BIOS V328 is the latest one for the E7V2 processor.
