What is the VCT function used for
The virtual cable test (VCT) function can detect the type of a network cable fault and identify the failure point. This function helps to locate and rectify faults of network cables effectively.
After a test is complete on an interface, the interface is reset and the interface status changes from Down to Up. The interval between two tests must be long enough for the chip to restore to normal state. The test result can be any of the following:
-Ok: The network cable on the interface is working normally. If the cable length is displayed as Unknown, the cable status is OK, but the cable length test result cannot be used.
-Open: Continuity loses between two connectors at the ends of the twisted pair. The test result displays the distance between the interface and the failure point to help you find the failure point.
-Short: Two or more conducting wires are short circuited. The test result displays the distance between the interface and the failure point to help you find the failure point.
-Crosstalk: The wire sequence in the twisted pair is incorrect.
The cable length displayed in the VCT test is for reference only.
