Issue Description

Issue Description:

The customer feedback when they connect the storage to SAN switch, the link always down.

Alarm Information

And there is alarm like this:

2017-05-08 11:13:08    0xF0EA0005    Major    None    The optical transceiver rate and the port rate of the FC port (Controller Enclosure CTE0, SmartIO interface module B.IOM0, port number P2, port rate 16Gbit/s, optical transceiver rate 10Gbit/s) do not match. As a result, the port is unavailable.

Handling Process

From the alarm we can know the port is working under FC mode, so should use the 8 Gb or 16 Gb SFP module, but the customer is using a 10 Gb SFP module, so the FC connection will always be link down.

Root Cause

The customer use wrong SFP module.


Use the 8Gb or 16Gb SFP module instead of the 10Gb SFP module.


The SmartIO interface module supports different working modes: FC, FCoE/iSCSI.If the working mode is set to the FC mode, 8 Gbit/s and 16 Gbit/s optical modules must be installed.
If the working mode is set to the FCoE/iSCSI or Cluster mode, 10 Gbit/s optical modules must be installed.
