Reset MM910 settings to factory defaults

Issue Description

Customer want to reset MM910 to factory defaults


  • Need to keep only one SMM board insert in E9000 when resetting, otherwise some old data will be Sync from master board to slave board after the SMM resetting & rebooting.
  • Login SMM board by serial cable.
  • Could enter uboot mode normally.

Reset steps

1.      Enter U-Boot mode

1.1.   Connect the RS232 serial port on the PC to the COM port on the active MM910 by using a DB9-RJ45 cable.

1.2.   Log in to the MM910 command-line interface (CLI) by using a serial port communication tool (e.g. Putty.exe)

  • The key communication parameters are as follows:
  • Serial Line to connect to: COMn
  • Speed (baud): 115200
  • Data bits: 8
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Parity: None
  • Flow control: None
  • n indicates the serial port number, and the value is an integer.

1.3.   Restart the MM910.


The command output is as follows:

This command will reboot SMM board. Continue? [Y/N]:

1.4.   Type Y and press Enter.

The MM910 restarts.

1.5.   Press Ctrl+B when the message Type 'ctrl+b' to enter uboot before os load during uboot start. is displayed.

The command output is as follows:

Net:   eTSEC1(Marvell 88E1512), eTSEC2(SGMII), eTSEC3(SGMII)


Enter password:


1.6.   Enter the password for logging in to the U-boot.

The default password is Huawei12#$

The U-boot menu is displayed.

2.      Input 'a' to enter the uboot command console.

3.      Input the commands step by step.

setenv fac_resume y



4.      The SMM will restart with resetting to factory defaults.

5.      Factory resetting will be finished in about 5 minutes, then could execute bellow commands to configure the static and float IP:

smmset -t front -d staticip -v <IP address> <Mask>

smmset -t front -d floatip -v <IP address> <Mask>

6.      Login the SMM portal to check the health status, clear related critical alarms first.

7.      Follow the same steps to reset another SMM board.
