Issue Description

Device Info:

There is a IO error from OS system, the /dev/sdc faulty need replacement

Alarm Information

There is a IO error from OS system, the /dev/sdc faulty need replacement

no alarm in BMC

Handling Process

1. there is a IO error from /dev/sdc, but no alarm in BMC log, so can't identify the physical disk slot

2. As customer can't provide OS log, so we can identify physical disk slot according to below command:

2.1 command "lsscsi -k" we can get physical index of /dev/sdc is 【0:2:1:0】,, and the 3rd digital means VD=1.

2.2 use raid card command "./storcli64 /c0 show" to get the VD 1 physical disk slot

VD and DG relationship, so VD=1, DG=10, need get DG=10 physical disk slot

DG and physical disk slot relationship, DG=10, slot=1, so the faulty disk slot is 1.

Root Cause

As BMC identify the faulty from Raid card, so when disk IO error can't detected by Raid card, then BMC can't identify as a faulty.

Then we can't get the physical disk slot from BMC alarm, only can identify from OS command.

replace slot 1 disk

1. Lots of customer can't get the OS log, so we can ask for command output, it's more easier to identify the faulty disk slot.

2. BMC should have more effitive way to get disk faulty issue.
