' The memory resources are insufficent ' Fault Occured in FusionCompute when the new VM was starting

Publication Date:  2017-10-18 Views:  291 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

FusionCompute version : V100R500C10SPC700

vm configs :

there is a error when the customer want to start the VM , the error display "The memory resources are insufficient" . the new vm start up fail .

the vms on the cluster , the cluster has two nodes  that CH04 and CH03

Alarm Information

Handling Process

1. we check the pyhsical memory on the CH04 host . check the available memory .

2. check the physical memory on the CH03 host , check the availiable memory .

the CH04 have 69GB available memory , the vm still can't start up and occure the same alarm.

3 . we check the HA cluster setting , find the reserve memory is 20%

so ,we count the total cluster available memory . two cluster total memory is 360GB , so the reserve memory is 360*20%= 72GB , the nodes total available memory is 69+15=84GB .  the cluster real available memory is less than 84-72=12GB , so the vm can't startup.

Root Cause

the cluster available memory is not enough

change the  reserve memory setting 20% to 10% , increase the real available memory.

create the new vm on the cluster (include vm bind the host ), we shoud check the cluster available first , not the CNA nodes.
