Issue : Port Flapping

Handling Process

When there is port down reported in iBMC, we notice that a new configuration / modification of configuration take place in OS level. 

Below messaged print from iBMC. Yellow highlighted referring to port down status. 

From OS log
Port 1 and Port 2 labeled as enp2s0f0 & enp2s0f1. Below is message from OS logs. 
Based on hardware and OS logs both timing is match for the configuration done at OS level. Please confirm the same from Linux team if any configuration modified at said time at OS level. 


According the message, those twice link down then up is physically link detect change and Auto-negotiation again . In addition ,the port enp2s0f0 negotiation speed on 100M, slow down.

Two port in one NIC card under the single same chip controller physically link down/up at different time hardly proving a hardware problem. So , it could be single link issue. We suggest below steps to take out to analysis the root cause.  

1)      Check the switch logs to confirm is there any error record and is there anyone turning down/up of the switch port; - Confirm the switch vendor, if non Huawei suggest to apply case with switch vendor to further analysis the issue

2)      Check if  anyone plugging the netting twine;

3)      Anyone change the netting twine ? 

  Here you can see the speed has been modified from 100Mbps to 1000Mbps. This should be done manually.
