Camera live video quality test for ANPR in night time.

Issue Description

Issue-  This case regarding our Fix camera, Model- 6125 WDL & 6125 WDL- FA, observing that in night time live video camera was not able to capture the number plate, getting while wash totally. Even when IR getting on in that scenarion also unable to read the number plate while IR reflecting on number plate but can't read anything.

Handling Process

Analysis of this case-

In ther real time live system observe that the camera are install on approx 6 meter height from the ground level and FOP of camera is approx 3 meter. FOP of  camera starting after 5metere from Camera Pillers. The target of camera is to capture the number plates of each vehicles which will crossing the FOP area of camera. Through out the ANPR system cam read the no and anlysis the requirement in database and can procedd further.

In such scenarion, observe that in the day time camera is able to cpature all the number plates but unable to get capture in night time, once the IR get on and it's reflecting on number plate then getting white wash, and unable to read any number on plate, as showing in below picutre.

Root Cause

Root Cause- The challenge is there are three major things, 

1. With the software version V200R002C20SPC300, there was no option to configure to the camera for Day and NIght mode based on Lux level, either based on IR level. In such scenarion camera was working itself in same configuration 24 hours, so unable to change the configration of camera in different differnt mode, and same configuration can olny enable 24 hours.

2. There is no option with software verion V200R002C20SPC300, to create multiple profile  to adjust the video quality as per required environment like day and night.

3.  Wrong Configuration for night Time




1.Upgrade to all the camera on tafgete version -IPCV200R003C20

In this version finding multiple features which is not available in the previous version.

2. Creating the Profile for Day and Night time separatally manually.

Configure the Profile based on environment requiremetns.

Note- All the parameter value in snapshots are based on standards, some parametere need to put as per the environment, specially in Night mode.

Configuration to activate the  Day / Night Profile-

IR integration with Camera-

IR have based on 6 IR LED, and connectied with camera for Input alarm, so that camera can get inpit from IR. The integration of camera and IR was like, this activity is based on identification of lux level by IR sensor. WHen sensor getting Lux level is low then he send the request to DP switch to swicth on the IR, and once IR once switch ON then IR send request input alarm to camera to switch the profile from DAY to Night. WHen Lux level get hight the IR's sensor send request to DP switch of IR to get switch of to the IR, and then IR send request alarm to Camera to switch the profile mode from Night to DAY.

SO in such scenarion camera was is working in Day and night time based on IR triggering informtation.

Special configuration for ANPR to get the good access of vehicles no plate, recommended some configuration in camera as below and attached snapshots above, expalining below the main parameter.
Expouser Mode- Shutter Priority
Shutter Speed- 1000 for Night
Gain Limit - 1 to 3, as per environment
Backlight- Backlight Compensession -- value between 5 to 10.

After this configuration we get a good result of video by camera in night time. Attaching some below snapshots.

SO finally get the solution after upgrade the software version and do the stantdard and needful configurationto the camera, then for ANPR mode camera providing best result in botht time Day and NIght.


For ANPR case recommend to install the camera in proper place and FOP should be very clear and vertical instead of tilt installation. AS well must be use to the recommended configuration to get the best result.
