Alarm Information

Alarm from VMware:

The host's CPU hardware should support the cluster's current Enhanced vMotion Compatibility mode, but some of the necessary CPU features are missing from the host

Handling Process

Received customer's screenshots and logs.

Checked which CPUs were used, their family, checked whether customer uses correct mode of Enchanced vMotion Compatibility (there is not 1 value)

Checked VMware official site for this function description and prerequisites

Root Cause

Customer followed our Huawei server low-latency application configuration optimization guide and configured bios like in this guide. 1 parameter "Monitor/mwait" did not allow EVC to work properly.

need to enable in bios parameter monitor/Mwait (by default we are advising to use disabled value)

Maybe we need to mention in our low-latency guide that this option is preventing of EVC to work.
