RSE Certificate Error

Publication Date:  2018-01-31 Views:  325 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Customer is using VC infrastructure composed of one SMC/SC, MCU/endpoints and one RSE6500 with V100R001C00SPC300 firmware version.

Upon trying to upload the certificate the customer has met an issue while trying to issue the following command :

openssl req –new –newkey rsa:2048 –nodes –keyout test.key –out test.csr

Handling Process

1. Checked the firmware version of the RSE6500
2. Checked the syntax of the command and replaced it:

openssl req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout test.key -out test.csr to be used instead of openssl req –new –newkey rsa:2048 –nodes –keyout test.key –out test.csr as the second command was written in Chinese punctuation

3. After typing the new command, we met another error message as per below:

4. Checked the OpenSSL installation using the below commands (the output should be as below image):

5. Upon issuing the commands we discovered the OpenSSL is not installed properly thus upgrading the firmware of the RSE6500 to a V5R2 is recommended

Root Cause

Due to the limitations of the old firmware version the HTTP certificate cannot be uploaded onto the the current V100R001C00SPC300 firmware version.

Given the fact that the RSE server is working in a dedicated VC infrastructure in order to upgrade the firmware version one needs to upgrade also the SMC/SC/MCU/Endpoints to assure stability and reliability.

Firmware upgrade to V5R2 version for RSE6500

Before the upgrade place takes place make sure the follow the upgrade guides and download the firmware from Huawei Support Site

Also, if the RSE is working under VC infrastructure, an RFC document needs to be created with the Huawei TAC to ensure proper steps are being followed.
