DEC6108 IP address changed

Issue Description

Ping test on DEC6108 is successful for about 10s, then the
device can no longer be pinged. Network environment is checked to be normal and
other devices running on the same network are working fine.

Handling Process

1. DEC108 is connected directly to the monitoring
laptop. Network segment of the laptop had been changed to be the same as of
network segment of DEC6108.

2.    Ping DEC6108 from the laptop.

3.  Ping test is not successful.

4.    Check DEC6108 with serial cable.

Root Cause

The IP address of DEC6108 is suspected to have changed.


1.  Check on the front panel of DEC6108. Network
connection indicator shows steady green. That means, DEC6108 is connected to
the LAN.

2.  Try to access the web interface of DEC6108 by
given IP address;

4.  Ping from the laptop. Ping test is
not successful.

5.  Connect serial cable to the DEC6108 to look for
the IP address. It is suspected the IP address changed since there is no
problem with the hardware.
