LUN is displayed on UltraPath even no LUN mapped on the host

Publication Date:  2018-02-20 Views:  234 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After UltraPath was installed, a LUN was discovered automatically and displayed in UltraPath Console under LUNV name and 16 KB size even if on that host are no mapped LUNs from the storage.

On OceanStor V3 and OceanStor 18000 Series, a LUN named “Command-Device” -> LUNV with 16KB capacity exists and it’s mapped to the host and scan Command-Device as a 16KB size disk. This is a virtual LUN that provides internal communication channels for application server and storage device, such as “Host Automatically scan Function” on storage terminal, “Value-Added business Management” on host terminal.
This virtual LUN from storage mapping is not a real storage disk and it can’t be used for production services.

After an actual LUN will be mapped to the host, LUNV can be deleted (Command-Device) by making below checks/changes on the storage:

1.    Make sure inbound Command is set to "Disable":

Run “change mappin_view mapping_view_id=1 command_device=disable” command to change the status to Disable.

2. Make sure Auto-Scan Swtich is off:

If not, modify the Auto-Scan Switch state with “change host_auto_scan switch=off” command.

3. Rescan the disks On the operating system .
