Issue Description

An error message is reported during the installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.8 on an RH5885 V2 8-socket server:

Alarm Information

The errors may also occur during the installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and SLES 11.1

The switch for selecting an OS interrupt mode is displayed on the BIOS setup screen of the RH5885 V2 8-socket server.

By default, Local APIC Mode is set to X2APIC.

In X2APIC mode, which is the latest interrupt mode, the number of system interrupts must be greater than 256.

However, OSs in earlier versions do not support over 256 interrupts. Therefore, Local APIC Mode needs to be set to Fax Mode to use the OS-defined number of interrupts
