Oracle Linux 7.0 Startup Failure After Migration

Publication Date:  2018-09-05 Views:  543 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Oracle Linux 7.0 is migrated from VMware to Huawei FusionSphere KVM.

After the migration, the system fails to be entered, as shown in the following figure:

Handling Process

Method 1:
Visit the following website to install the official patch to rectify the fault:

Method 2:
Adjust the number of CPUs and the memory to 4 CPUs and a value larger than 4 GB, respectively.

Root Cause

The VM OS kernel has a defect. Before kvmclock is registered by kvm, if the AP of the VM accesses kvmclock, deadloop of the function pvclock_clocksource_read() occurs because the hv_clock variable is not initialized before the application, resulting in the VM system suspension.
