FAQ-After Being Mapped to an NDMP Host, a Tape Library Is Mapped to the Media Server of NetBackup, but Storage Units Cannot Be Created on the Media Server

Issue Description

After being mapped to an NDMP host, a tape library is mapped to the media server of NetBackup, but storage units cannot be created on the media server.

Solution

Solve the problem as follows:

1. Map the tape library to the media server of NetBackup.

2. On NetBackup, delete the robot arms, tape library drives, and storage units that are discovered on the NDMP host, and retain only the tapes.

Note:
Ensure that the tapes are retained. If the tapes are deleted, the backup sets stored in the tapes will be lost.

3. On NetBackup, run the configuration wizard that is used to discover storage units.

If storage units of the Media Manager and NDMP types are displayed, the configuration is successful, as shown in the following figure:



4. Discover the tapes again.
