The Operating System Cannot Be Started Because the Configuration Items of SELinux Components Are Incorrectly Modified

Publication Date:  2019-03-26 Views:  26 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

On the U2000 V200R017C60, the Linux VM NMS deployed in open virtualization format (OVF) mode stays on the startup screen, and the Linux operating system cannot be started.

Handling Process

1. The U2000 server is newly installed and has been restarted twice before. Therefore, the fault is not caused by the installation.

2. The security enhancement function provided by the SELinux is not required. Therefore, the SELinux components are disabled by referring to section "How to Disable the SELinux Components" in the product documentation.

3. Enter the Linux operating system in recovery mode during the startup. Run the # vi /etc/selinux/config command to access the SELinux configuration file.

The SELinux components can be disabled by setting the SELINUX item in the configuration file to disabled. However, the preceding figure shows that the SELINUXTYPE item is incorrectly set to disabled.

4. Set SELINUXTYPE to the default value minimum and set SELINUX to disabled. Save the setting and exit. Then, run the following commands to restart the operating system:

# sync;sync;sync;sync

# shutdown -r now

It is found that the Linux operating system can be started properly.

Root Cause

The SELINUXTYPE item in the configuration file is incorrectly set to disabled.

Enter the Linux operating system in recovery mode and correct the configuration.

Exercise caution when modifying Linux system components or operating system files. Otherwise, the system may fail to be started.
