Traffic Obtained from the Users Connected to the RADIUS Server Is Light After PPPoE Authentication Is Configured on an ME60

Issue Description

After PPPoE authentication is configured on an ME60, the traffic obtained from the users connected to the RADIUS server is light.

Handling Process

1.Obtain packet headers on the AAA server. The result shows that accounting packets have been sent to the AAA server, which indicates that an accounting scheme has been configured.

2.View the configurations of the accounting scheme.

3.Analyze the configurations. It is suspected that the accounting scheme contains only the accounting send-update configuration. This indicates that the device sends accounting packets to the accounting server only after receipt of Accounting Start packets. Messages (The traffic is light because the users just went online).


After the real-time accounting configuration is added, the traffic of the packet headers obtained from the AAA server is still light. Details are as follows:

4.Check that the difference between the data of packet header obtaining and the data sent is a multiple of 1000. It is suspected that this issue is caused by unit inconsistency.


Root Cause

The traffic sent by the ME60 is expressed by byte. However, the unit of traffic calculated by the AAA server is kbyte. Therefore, AAA server data shows that traffic is light.

Solution

Make the unit of the traffic sent by the ME60 to be consistent with the unit of the traffic calculated by the AAA server.
