An NE20E Fails to Connect to the U2000 Through FTP

Publication Date:  2019-03-27 Views:  250 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Software version: V800R007C00SPC200

Patch version: V800R007SPH006

The NE20E is directly connected to the U2000.

NE20E Gi 0/1/3 (  <=============>  U2000 (

The NE20E can properly ping the U2000 but ftp fails.

Handling Process

1. The U2000 can be remotely connected to the NE20E and ftp is normal, indicating that the FTP protocol stack of the NE20E works properly.

2. The U2000 can FTP itself and ftp is normal, indicating that the FTP protocol stack of the U2000 works properly.

3. The NE20E is remotely connected to the U2000 and ftp fails. Packet header obtaining on Wireshark fails, indicating that data packets are not successfully sent to the U2000.

4. The NE20E can FTP itself, but ftp fails.

There is a high probability that the problem occurs on the NE20E.

5. FTP enabling is normal.

ftp server enable

6.The specified IP address for FTP is normal.

sftp client-source  -a

ftp client-source  -a

If the specified IP address is abnormal, data packets are sent from another interface or data packet sending fails.

Root Cause

Unidirectional FTP on the NE20E is normal. It is suspected that an error occurs during data packet sending on the NE20E by means of FTP. The following configuration is incorrect:

set net-manager vpn-instance vpn1

Delete the VPN configuration of the protocol.

undo set net-manager vpn-instance vpn1

The set net-manager vpn-instance vpn-instance-name command is used to configure the VPN instance required for the devices managed by the U2000. The NE20E uses this VPN instance to communicate with the U2000. By default, no default VPN instance exists on the NE20E.

The VPN instance configured using this command affects the following service modules: TFTP client, FTP client, SFTP client, SCP client, Info Center module, SNMP module, and TACACS module. After the VPN instance is configured, VPN information is encapsulated during data packet sending. Therefore, unidirectional FTP communication fails.
