In a branch office, the control board in slot 0 of a ViewPoint 8660 becomes faulty. After the faulty control board is replaced with a spare board, the alarm indicator blinks red, and a message is displayed indicating that the new board is offline. The license is found invalid after a version upgrade.
First log in to the control board to check the device version, which is ViewPoint 8660 V100R008C03SPCc00. An attempt to ping the IP address of the new control board fails. Directly connect to the FE port of the new control board, and find that the version of the new board is ViewPoint 8660 V100R008C03SPC200. As a result, the version of the new board has to be upgraded separately.
1. When the FTP tool is being set up during the upgrade, the mcu-soft.bin package always crashes quickly. However, the local FTP test is successful. The problem persists after the tool version is upgraded and the software path is changed. Later several troubleshooting attempts find that the firewall on the local PC is enabled, causing an FTP connection failure between the MCU and the local PC. After the firewall is disabled, the upgrade is successful.
2. After the upgrade succeeds, another new alarm is generated indicating "License initial failed".
3. Further troubleshooting finds that the license of the new board is invalid. It is preliminarily determined that the new board does not have the license information.
4. Download the original license from the official license website, import the license through the tool, and perform a restart after loading the license. The alarm is then cleared.
The license of the new board is invalid.
