FAQ-Does the MPLS MTU on an NE40E Interface Distinguish Between IPv4 and IPv6?

Publication Date:  2019-04-07 Views:  18 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Does the MPLS MTU on an NE40E interface distinguish between IPv4 and IPv6?
Alarm Information

The MPLS MTU on an NE40E interface does not distinguish IPv4 from IPv6.

The associated commands are as follows:

[~HUAWEI] interface gigabitethernet 1/0/0

[*HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet1/0/0] mpls mtu 1500 (By default, the MTU of MPLS packets transmitted from an interface equals the MTU of the interface.)

Solution

The MPLS MTU on an NE40E interface does not distinguish IPv4 from IPv6.

The associated commands are as follows:

[~HUAWEI] interface gigabitethernet 1/0/0

[*HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet1/0/0] mpls mtu 1500 (By default, the MTU of MPLS packets transmitted from an interface equals the MTU of the interface.)

If MTU is configured on an interface, the MTU digtinguishes IPv4 from IPv6.

The associated commands are as follows:

[HUAWEI] interface gigabitethernet 1/0/1
[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet1/0/1] mtu 1500 (By default, the IPv4 MTU of an interface is 1500 bytes.)

[HUAWEI] interface gigabitethernet 1/0/1
[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet1/0/1] ipv6 enable
[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet1/0/1] ipv6 mtu 1500 (By default, the IPv6 MTU of an interface is 1500 bytes.)
