Telnet Login to an S1700 Fails

Publication Date:  2019-07-18 Views:  162 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

After the Telnet service is enabled for the S1700 in the web system, Telnet login to the switch fails.

Handling Process

The S1720 supports only web-based management and does not support configuration through the console port. Therefore, export diagnostic information from the web system to check whether the configuration of the switch is correct.

The Telnet service is not enabled in the AAA domain.

Extract configuration information from the diagnostic information, add the Telnet service configuration to the AAA domain, and compress the text file into a .zip file. Import the .zip file to the switch through the web system, configure the file for the next startup, and restart the switch.

Root Cause

The diagnostic information shows that the Telnet service is disabled in the AAA domain.

Solution

Extract configuration information from the diagnostic information, add the Telnet service configuration to the AAA domain, and compress the text file into a .zip file. Import the .zip file to the switch through the web system, configure the file for the next startup, and restart the switch.

Suggestions

Although the S1720 does not support configuration through the console port, it supports configuration file import through the web system. You can modify the configuration file and import it to the switch through the web system.
