When an MX210 Switch Module Is Connected to a Cisco SAN Switch in AG Mode, the Port Is Disabled

Publication Date:  2019-04-10 Views:  102 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

After an MX210 switch module is set to the AG mode, the port connected to a Cisco SAN switch is disabled. The indicator is off and optical module does not emit light. The MX210 configuration is correct.

Handling Process

Enable the NPIV function on the peer end Cisco SAN switch, and manually enable the MX210 backplane port. The problem is resolved.

Root Cause

When a Brocade SAN switch is interconnected with a Cisco SAN switch in AG mode, the NPIV function must be enabled on the Cisco SAN switch. For details about how to enable the NPIV function, contact Cisco engineers.

If the AG mode is enabled on the local MX210, the NPIV function on the peer end Cisco switch must be enabled.
