Failed to Change the Working Mode of UltraPath 21.1.0

Publication Date:  2019-04-10 Views:  36 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

In a customer environment, UltraPath of the latest version is installed on RHEL6.8, and there are multiple links between the storage and hosts. Performance bottlenecks occur on these links. The customer changes the working mode of UltraPath to load balancing between controllers but this change does not take effect.

Handling Process

1. Check the command used to change the working mode to UltraPath of the latest version:

upadmin
set workingmode=1 vlun_id=0

The command is executed successfully, with no error reported.

2. Query the working mode of UltraPath:

upadmin  show upconfig

The working mode remains to be load balancing within a controller. The working mode change fails.

3. Run the upadmin show upconfig vlun_id=0 command. The command output indicates that the multipathing policy whose vLUN ID is 0 is modified successfully.

If the working mode of LUNs is changed, you need to set the vLUN IDs for query. Otherwise, the working mode you have queried is the global one.

Root Cause

If the working mode of LUNs is changed, you need to set the vLUN IDs for query. Otherwise, the working mode you have queried is the global one.

Solution

Run the upadmin show upconfig vlun_id=0 command. The command output indicates that the multipathing policy whose vLUN ID is 0 is modified successfully.
