Failed to Start Linux Hosts After Service Takeover in Data Migration

Publication Date:  2019-04-10 Views:  37 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After Huawei storage takes over heterogeneous storage and maps eDevLUNs to hosts during data migration, Linux hosts cannot be started.

Handling Process

Log in to the system in single-user mode and modify the /etc/fstab file.

Change proc                 /proc                proc       defaults              1 2 (example)

to   proc                 /proc                proc       defaults              1 0 (example)

After takeover, the LUN WWN information changes. As a result, disks fail to be scanned for. Change the dump and pass values to 1 and 0.

After the takeover, if information about other volume groups besides rootvg exists in the fstab file before LUN mapping, the system cannot be restarted, because disks for mounting cannot be found.

1. Map the LUN to the host and change the dump and pass values of volume groups except rootvg in the fstab file to 0 and 0. 2. Comment out the configurations of volume groups except rootvg in the fstab file.

Root Cause

After Huawei storage takes over heterogeneous storage, it remaps LUNs to the host, but the host fails to scan for disks because the LUN WWNs change.
