Failed to Add the Windows Operating System Using the eSight Application Manager at a Site

Issue Description

When the Windows operating system is added using the eSight Application Manager for management, an adding failure message is displayed.

Handling Process

Modify the switch policy to permit ports 135 and 445.

Root Cause

When Windows hosts are monitored in the WMI mode, the following services must be running on the remote Windows host:

1) Remote Procedure Call (RPC) -- Port: 135

2) Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) -- Port: 445

Solution

Permit ports 135 and 145 so that the eSight Application Manager can monitor the Windows operating system. Due to ransomware virus impacts, ports 135 and 445 are disabled in most government departments and enterprises.

Permit ports 135 and 445 based on the network security policy of the customer, ensuring the network security of the customer
