Failed to Remotely Log In to Network Device Using eSight

Publication Date:  2019-04-12 Views:  70 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

An enterprise user reports that the NE40E-16 router cannot be remotely logged in on the eSight Network WLAN platform. The message indicates that the login times out. However, the device can be normally logged in using the CMD. The eSight Network version is V300R006C00SPC500AC.

Handling Process

1. Check whether the user name and password for remotely logging in to the device are correct on eSight.

2. If the user name and password are correct, check whether they are saved and delivered to the platform software.

3. If the user name and password are saved and delivered correctly, check whether the login configuration in the router is correct.

Root Cause

A message is displayed before NE40 is accessed during login to the NE40 router. The message is as follows:

Warning: Please change the original password. A password must be at least 8 characters and consist of upper-case letters, lower-case letters, digits, and special characters.

The password needs to be changed.  Change now?  [Y/N]:

When logging in to the router remotely on eSight, users cannot enter related information to interact with the device, leading to login failure.

Log in to the router using CMD, run the undo user-security-policy  enable command under global settings to disable the authentication information, and log in to the router remotely on eSight. The login is successful.

If you need to remotely log in to network devices using eSight, you are advised to change the password or disable the authentication during deployment.
