How Can I Query BMC Logs to Check Whether Lock-step Is Enabled for RH5885 V3 and RH5885H V3 Servers

Publication Date:  2019-04-17 Views:  46 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

When replacing the memory card of an RH5885 V3 or RH5885H V3 server, check whether lock-step is enabled in the BIOS of the server. If the server cannot be restarted, collect the BMC logs of the server to check whether lock-step is enabled.

Solution

1. Find the _data_smbios_display0.ini and _data_smbios_options0.ini files in the tmp\maintenance\maintenance\configinfo directory of the BMC logs. The _data_smbios_display0.ini file contains the meaning of parameter values, and the _data_smbios_options0.ini file contains the current BIOS parameters.

2. Search for the vmseMode field in the _data_smbios_display0.ini file and check whether lock-step is enabled. 0 indicate that lock-step is enabled; 1 indicates that lock-step is disabled.

3. Search for the vmseMode field in the _data_smbios_options0.ini file and check whether lock-step is enabled. 0 indicate that lock-step is enabled; 1 indicates that lock-step is disabled.
