Failed to Obtain the IP Address During the Installation of the eSight Platform

Issue Description

During eSight installation, a message indicating that the IP address cannot be obtained is displayed and the installation fails.

Alarm Information
Handling Process

1. Run the following command to view the NIC information and verify that the NIC is configured properly:

ifconfig –a

Ensure that an IP address is configured properly for the NIC. If no IP address is configured, run the yast2 command to configure the IP address of the corresponding NIC.

Run the following command to check whether the NIC is activated and takes effect:

ethtool eth0

Ensure that the link detection status of the NIC is yes. If the status is no, check whether the NIC connection is normal.

Root Cause

1. No IP address is configured for the eSight server.

2. The link detection status of the NIC on the eSight server is no and the NIC does not work.

Solution

1. Verify that the NIC is configured properly. If no IP address is configured, configure the IP address of the corresponding NIC.

2. Verify that the NIC is activated and takes effect.
