The OS of the RH2285H V2 fails to start at the power-on self-check stage.
No alarm information is displayed on the BMC. Upon login to the remote KVM, it is found that a black screen is displayed after the system self-check.
1. Check the mainboard. A black screen is usually displayed during system self-check if the mainboard is faulty.
2. Perform minimization test to a single CPU and DIMM. The fault persists.
3. Replace the mainboard. The fault persists.
4. Check other components of the server.
After the server is restarted, it is found that SMART Event is reported for one hard disk during the self-check. After the faulty hard disk is removed, the server OS starts normally.
Replace faulty hard disk with a new one.
A black or blank screen is probably caused by a DIMM or hard disk fault. When handling such a fault, consider all components that can lead to the fault. In addition, check whether an error is reported during the power-on self-test. Some alarms are not displayed on the BMC.
