After an Administrator's User Name and Password Are Changed on the BMC, the SNMP Connectivity Test Using the New Password Indicates Disconnection from eSight

Publication Date:  2019-04-24 Views:  48 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After the BMC administrator of a 2288H V5 device is changed, the Redfish connectivity test using the new password indicates proper communication while the SNMP connectivity test using the new password indicates disconnection.

Current version: eSight V300R009C00SPC200

Handling Process

The verification indicates the following:

1. If a new iBMC user is never configured with the SNMPv3 encryption password, the SNMPv3 encryption password and authentication password are the same by default and are automatically kept the same as the user's login password. After the user login password is changed, the SNMPv3 encryption password and authentication password are automatically changed.

2. If a new user is configured with the SNMPv3 encryption password, the password will not be kept the same as the user's login password.

Solution

If the SNMPv3 encryption password is configured for a new user and the new user's login password is changed, manually synchronize the new password for it to take effect.
