Failed to Create Collection After Solr Capacity Expansion Is Performed on FusionInsight HD V1R2C60U10

Publication Date:  2019-04-25 Views:  7 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After 5 nodes are added to Solr on FusionInsight HD V1R2C60U10 at a site in Beijing, the customer occasionally fails to create a collection, especially when the collection has a large number of shards.

Alarm Information

No alarm is generated in the cluster.

Handling Process

The customer reports that the collection fails to be created after capacity expansion. The problem may be that the configuration of the new node is inconsistent with that of the existing cluster nodes. To trigger the failure, create a collection whose shard quantity = (Total number of Solr nodes x Number of node instances). The creation fails. View the error information.

<str>org.apache.solr.client.solrj.impl.HttpSolrClient$RemoteSolrException:Error from server at Error CREATEing SolrCore 'col_filter_shard3_replica2': Unable to create core [col_filter_shard3_replica2] Caused by: org.wltea.analyzer.lucene.IKTokenizerFactory</str>

The IP addresses are of newly added nodes. Access IKTokenizerFactory and find that the filed type is not provided by Solr. It is defined by the customer. Compare the jar packages under the /opt/huawei/Bigdata/FusionInsight/FusionInsight-Solr-5.3.1/cluster/SolrServer1/apache-tomcat-7.0.68/webapps/solr/WEB-INF/lib/ directory of both the old and new instances. It is found that the number of the jar packages in the old instances is more than that of the new instances. Copy the extra jar packages to the new nodes, restart Solr, and the collection is recreated successfully.

Root Cause

A customized analyzer is used. After nodes are added for capacity expansion, a customized analyzer JAR package is not created and added to the new instances.
