Abnormal Heartbeat Between the Host and VRM in FusionCloud 2.0.6 (XEN)

Publication Date:  2019-04-25 Views:  125 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The customer's host interconnects with FusionCompute V100R006C00.

The customer's host CNA009 was abnormally powered off on October 21, and alarms Heartbeat Communication Between the Host and VRM Interrupted and Faulty Data Store on the Host were generated.

The customer wants to confirm the cause of the abnormal power-off.

Handling Process

Analyze the message logs and find that the clock time was rolled back.

Log in to the CNA node as user gandalf, switch to user root, and run grep "Time went backwards" /var/log/messages. If any command output is displayed, the problem occurs. If no command output is displayed as shown in the figure below, the problem is not involved.

Root Cause

Clock rollback logs are frequently printed, resulting a low probability that a deadlock occurs on the CPU.

Preventive measure:

1.Log in to the CNA node as user gandalf, switch to user root, and run the following command:

2.Run cat /proc/sys/xen/permitted_clock_jitter. If the following information is displayed, the workaround is successful.

Upgrade your FusionCompute version to V100R006C00U1SPC002.
