Issue Description

The system displays “servers is restarting” during installation of SMC2.0 V5R2, as a result, SMC installation fails.

The operation system is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and the target version of SMC2.0 is SMC2.0 V500R002C00SPC500.


Handling Process

1.There is no error information from installation logs. But from the logs of restart, the system always prompts restart during the installation of .net framework 4.5.

2.Therefore, it needs to run .net framework installation program in the installation packet to view the detailed error information.
The system prompts that this computer has installed .net framework 4.5.2 or a later version when running .net framework installation program. The path of installation packet is. \SmcInstall\Tools\dotNet\NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe

3.It is found that the computer has installed .net framework 4.6 when check the list of installation program.

4.The problem is resolved by uninstalling the .net framework 4.6 and reinstalling SMC2.0.

Root Cause

SMC2.0 installation fails due to the server has installed the newest version of NetFramework.

It needs to check that the current version of .net framework which can’t exceed the version of .net framework in the SMC2.0 installation packet before installing SMC2.0.
The SMC2.0 V5R2 corresponds to net framework 4.5.2 and V6R6 corresponds to .net framework 4.6.1.
Methods for checking the version of .net framework: it can be queried by Registry, the path of Registry is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full 


Solution

The problem is resolved by uninstalling the .net framework 4.6 and reinstalling SMC2.0.
