Customer looking for a suitable multi-cast KPI for the purpose of QoS alarm monitoring

To create a new QoS alarm for the purpose of KPI monitoring

Handling Process

We need to study suitable counter and threshold that can be used for the purpose of monitoring multi-cast KPI. This counter and threshold will somehow give an indicator if the multi-cast KPI perform abnormally or the multi-cast KPI services deteriorate

Solution

1)     Firstly, we need to identify suitable counter for the Multi-Cast KPI. After doing some discussion and studies we proposed below KPI :

        eMBMS PDU Discarded Rate = [(L.MBMS.Disc.SYNC.PDU (None)/ L.MBMS.Rx.SYNC.PDU (None)]*100

2)    Then, we collect the above KPI counter for the past 1 month on hourly basis and see the distribution (at cell level). Below and the pattern of distribution.

       So we suggest to use below threshold for the eMBMS packet discarded rate

   

 

3)    After that, you may follow step-by step how to set the performance threshold alarm as below

Suggestions

On top of the above given threshold of eMBMBS PDU Discarded Rate according to severity (major, critical), customer can proceed to identify the worst performing cell and do some field test accordingly so that we have more accurate information between Service Deterioration/Disruption and eMBMS PDU Discarded Rate. In future, customer can fine-tune the more suitable threshold value according to the field test results and implement accordingly in U2000.
