Customer was installing U2000 on the server when they received an error message saying that it can't connect to the database server.
The error message is shown below.
Installation as done on Windows operating system.
We asked the customer if they started the SQL server, but they didn't know.
We provided the procedure to confirm or start the SQL server as per the following steps:
Step1: Choose Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager > SQL Server Services.
Step 2: Perform the following operations to ensure that the SQL Server database has been started.
• Right-click SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and check whether the shortcut menu option Start is grayed out.
o If Start is grayed out, the SQL Server database is started.
o If Start is not grayed out, the SQL Server database is stopped. Right-click SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and choose Start from the shortcut menu.
Above steps based on Windows 2008, but if the SQL Server 2000 database is installed on Windows Server 2003, choose Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Service Manager. The SQL Server Service Manager dialog box is displayed. Then, click Start/Continue.
U2000 installation was completed normally after starting the SQL server.
