Issue Description

Both eth0 and 1 can not UP. Initial pf_reset failed reported in OS logs.

Error message:

"i40e 0000:1a:00.0: Initial pf_reset failed: -15"

"i40e: probe of 0000:1a:00.0 failed with error -15"

Handling Process

Based on the logs, this issue is a software timeout while waiting for the physical function reset(PFR) to complete. The firmware gets stuck and the firmware watchdog timer expires. It can be fixed after re-initialize the device. After perform an AC Power Cycle(Power-off device, plug out the power cable, plug in the power cable, power on the server), NIC card back to normal, and both eth0,1 are UP.
