FAQ - Precautions for Black-Hole MAC Addresses on NE40E

Issue Description

VLANIF interfaces are configured on NE40E to terminate user VLANs. A customer hopes to bar a user from accessing the Internet by configuring a black-hole MAC address.

1. The black-hole MAC address is applicable only to Layer 2 forwarding. If the MAC address carried by user packets is the MAC address of the VLANIF interface, the user packets are forwarded based on IP addresses, that is Layer 3 forwarding, and the black-hole MAC address is not effective.

2. To bar a user from accessing the Internet, configure a traffic policy on the corresponding interface to bar forwarding of packets carrying specific source MAC addresses.
