A New VLAN-based Service Was Unavailable on NE40Es Interconnected Through the Eth-Trunk Interface

Publication Date:  2013-09-30 Views:  112 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

NE40Es running V600R003C00SPC900 were interconnected through the Eth-Trunk interface. After a VLAN was added to the interface, the VLAN-based service was unavailable.

Handling Process

Huawei completed the following steps to diagnose the problem:

1. Checked Layer 2 configurations. The configurations were correct.

2. Checked Eth-Trunk interface configurations. Link-share was enabled. RSTP was enabled and bound to STP process 53.

interface Eth-Trunk3

 description **eth-trunk3_To_ran-lpg2.1.eth-trunk3**

 port link-type trunk

 port trunk allow-pass vlan 2003 2005 to 2010 3100 3102 to 3104 3359 3379 to 3380 4000 4090

 stp binding process 53 link-share

3. Queried the STP enabling/disabling status and the configurations of STP process 53. STP was not enabled globally. STP process 53 was configured as follows:

stp process 53

 stp mode rstp

 stp enable

If link-share is enabled, multiple access rings and MSTP processes of an interface on the shared link calculate interface status separately. Therefore, multiple status values exist for an interface, causing the problem.

Root Cause

STP was not enabled globally while link-share was enabled.

Enable STP globally or disable link-share.

If an interface does not need to participate in multiple MSTP processes, disable link-share. If link-share is required, enable STP in the global view. After STP is enabled in the global view, services may be affected due to re-calculation.
