High MACL and PES Consumption in the Board CPU of ME60 Due to Layer 2 Loop

Publication Date:  2013-09-30 Views:  108 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The ME60 (V600R002) in a site presents high board CPU consumption in slot 1. However, only dozens of users are online.
The consumption of module MACL and PES is high after the board CPU task is checked.

MACL            22%         0/211665e6       MACL

Handling Process

1. The MACL module is in charge of MAC address learning. The high consumption of this module may be caused by a loop. The PES module is in charge of packet processing and is occupied when the MAC address learning message is uploaded.
2. The device is found to carry the VPLS service and a large number of MAC address is flapping between interfaces after running the command display mac-address dynamic 1. Therefore, the problem occurs in Layer 2.

Root Cause

A Layer 2 loop causes high CUP consumption.

Remove the Layer 2 loop.
