The Server Cannot Be Started Because the Fan Is Improperly Inserted

Publication Date:  2012-07-17 Views:  327 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The RH2285 cannot be started and the BMC reports the alarm indicating that the fan cannot be detected or invalid.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Install the fan correctly and clear the alarm.
Root Cause
Log in to the BMC using the serial port and check the IPMI information or BMC logs. The logs indicate that the fan is faulty. The fan of the RH2285 does not have the redundancy mechanism. The fan needs to be connected to a 2, 4, 5, or 6D interface. Otherwise, the fan cannot work.
The fan installation guide diagram is attached to the server cover.
