Issue Description

Product and version information:

In this networking environment, when we set the HBA port mode to Public Loop, we found on the application server that the link between the application server and the switch is intermittently disconnected, and the application server was unable to set up a connection to the storage device.

Alarm Information
Handling Process
To avoid this trouble, set the HBA port mode to P2P when connecting an ATTO FC-82EN HBA to a Brocade switch. For details, contact ATTO technical support personnel.
Root Cause
We communicated with the FC chip supplier PMC and was informed that the PMC QE8 chip used in the ATTO FC-82EN HBA has a known compatibility issue when connected to a Brocade switch by using Public Loop mode. This issue led to the intermittent disconnections or failures to set up a connection between the application server and the switch.
