Blank Screen Occurs When Storage Devices Are Accessed by Application Servers

Publication Date:  2012-07-22 Views:  255 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

When mapping the same LUN of a storage device to different ASs, blank screen and OS corruption occur on the ASs when they read/write the LUN simultaneously.

Product and version information:
  • S2600
  • S5000 series
Alarm Information
Handling Process
  1. Create clusters for the ASs.
Root Cause

It is found that when no clusters are created for ASs, reading/writing the shared storage area simultaneously results in the access confliction, causing the blank screen to occur on ASs.

A cluster is a collection of computers that are running the same software and are interconnected to present as a virtual host to provide service for applications. All the ASs in the cluster are physically interconnected through cables and are virtually interconnected through a cluster software, which enables fault tolerance and load balancing that cannot be implemented by a single AS.
