Obtaining Device Data Through SNMP Times Out and Configuration Synchronization Fails

Publication Date:  2012-07-23 Views:  342 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The collector cannot be synchronized during device configuration synchronization.
Alarm Information
Handling Process

Step 1     In the Main Topology, select the device whose configurations fail to be synchronized.

Step 2     On the menu bar, choose System > Device Access Protocol Parameters.

Step 3     In the Device Access Protocol dialog box, click Display.

Step 4     Set Timeout to 30 or a larger value.

Step 5     Click Apply.

Root Cause
A device is in full configuration when its parameters are set with the maximum values. For a device in full configuration, you cannot configure greater values for its parameters. Normally, a device reaches full configuration when its interface data records reaches 50000.
When the VSM obtains device data through SNMP, the default timeout period is five seconds. If there is too much device data and the synchronization lasts for more than five seconds, the collector regards the synchronization as overtime and returns a synchronization failure message to the VSM.
